Queanbeyan Visit

As some of you may be aware, Murray is working away from home part of the time. Instead of him coming to us this weekend we headed down to Queanbeyan for a short visit. The kids were both really good on the drive down and excited to see Daddy, but more excited to see the dogs that live there! Two absolutely gorgeous black staffys, Zane says we must get one EXACTLY the same as Sooky!

While we were there we did the tourist thing and headed to Canberra to check out Cockington Green and Questacon. Zane and Lily loved the train ride at Cockington Green and being able to operate the trains and other interactive models. Zane made the trains go around and around for ages, Lily wasn't quite so keen but she had barely slept the night before.

I loved all the miniature houses, I hadn't been to Cockington Green since I was a kid, and can't really remember it that well. These were my favourites:

Very cute little church with bells playing for the wedding.

Not sure what this one was of, it's not in my guide book, but it was in the international section....

And lastly St Andres Cathdral in the Ukraine

Oh and there was this sign which gave me quite a giggle at the train station:

Sunday we went to Questacon. This was pretty amazing, lots of buttons to press and things to do and see. Zane & Lily both loved the Mini Q under 6 area - heaps to do here:

Space:

Water:

Construction:

Cooking:

Lily didn't want to leave and chucked a tanty as only an almost 4 year old can. They both had a great time on the rollercaster simulator, Zane had 3 goes in a row!! His favourite thing was apparently the flight simulator, he enjoyed crashing the plane. No photos of that as Lily and I were back in her favourite area - the Mini Q's playing construction workers.

We needed more time to see it all, but I suspect we will be down there again soon.

More Missions

My last few layouts from the Biggest Loser challenge. I didn't get to finish them all, managed to get 10 out of 13 completed, though I did forget to take a photo of my card which ended up going to Lilys best friend for her birthday.

Mission 4 - A Step-by-Step layout, using up some more Crate Paper Paper Dolls range, which I have so much of still!

Mission 5 - Card using only patterned paper, no c/s. I used more Paper Dolls:

Mission 10 - A sketch AND to use 3 pieces of chipboard all in the same single colour. Instead of using lots of old stash I cracked open Echo Park Little Boy for this - love this range:

And lastly Mission 11 - a card using Rub-ons:

I still have to finish sorting out the scrap room and will post photos once I am done!

More Biggest Loser scrapping

I have done two more layouts for this competition. I still have Mission 4, 5 & 8 to do, there is no Mission 6. I am also taking photos of the scrapping clean-up that coincides with the Missions. I will post photos of the progress so far soon.

Mission 7 was to use 3 different punches on a layout. Mine has 3 border punches, corner rounder and butterfly punch. Going to Gloria Jeans for Babycinos and Banana Bread was one of Lilys favourite things to do.

Mission 9 was to create a layout using 3 different alpha fonts. I have used 4 in this one which is based on this years Christmas Card:

This was the Christmas Card I did for last year:

Scrapz Biggest Loser

Cleaning up my stash and scrap space over at Scrapz with the Biggest Loser competition. Slowly culling my stash and of course creating too. These are for the first 3 challenges:

Mission 1 - Sketch by Heike:

This is of my very cute niece Scarlett who is now 18 months old! Managed to use some of this Crate Paper Doll paper which I LOVE but bought so much of!

Mission 2 - Card using cardstock only.

This is pretty plain, I wanted it to suit any occasion:

Mission 3 - use 3 different spotty papers.

I took this photo after Zane had his first (and only) ambulance ride last year. Journalling reads:

You had your first trip in an ambulance after experiencing sharp pains in the hips and legs.
Thankfully it was just growing pains, but they took you to the hospital to be sure. By then the
pain had gone, so you got to enjoy the ride. The ambos gave you this teddy who you named Winnie.
You adored him and he slept with you for several weeks afterwards.

Thanks for looking

First layouts for 2011

I finally got around to doing some scrapping last week. I have taken the photos of these with my point & shoot camera as my memory card for my DSLR is corrupted. I have bought 2 replacements, won't be caught out again. So the quality is not fabulous. Now I just have to hope that the 50 odd photos on the card can be retreived...

The first layout is another Fiji one using all Kaisercraft and some October Afternoon alphas. I really like this shot of them running up the beach, they weren't big fans of the beach here, which was probably more a lagoon anyway.

The second one's design was inspired by my paper trimmer which was out of alignment and thus shredding the edges of the paper, so I helped shred a bit more! I have now fixed the trimmer too.  I love this photo of Lily, she always wants to help out when cooking and runs off to get her apron and hat! She looks so cute in them... and I am secretly hoping she is going to be a cook, unlike her Mum!

Tomorrow I will post my first couple of layouts for the Scrapz Biggest Loser Comp.

2011 - Change

First post for the year and it is already half way through the month. I haven't had the best start to the year personally , and either has most parts of Australia. I recall reading last year that new years resolutions are best started in February and I think I might go along with that this year and just write January off...

My word for 2011 is going to be CHANGE, not a very exciting or glamorous word but one that is very suited to my life right now.

Many changes have already occurred - Murray got a promotion that sees him having to work away from home, I have taken a years leave without pay to concentrate on the family, my first born baby Zane starts big school this year, Lily won't have him around and is going to miss him like crazy, I think she won't be the only one ...

I need to make a few changes too. Last years word was Organised and I made a bit of a start with it , but a long way to go! And of course there is always the usual weight and exercise goals and balancing life to fit everything in.  I am hoping for a big change later on in the year too!

Scrapping wise I have finally done a couple of layouts but have busted the memory card in my camera so need to get a new one before I can upload them, hopefully in the next couple of days.
