P!nk - Scrap the Girls

The other day Lily wanted me to take some photos of her dancing on the trampoline - (as she does). So I was just snapping away, keeping her amused, not expecting too much. But when I downloaded them I discovered quite a funny photo, she certainly didn't look like she was dancing, but it was funny and I wanted to scrap it.  I  was looking at a few challenge blogs and the July challenge at Scrap the Girls jumped out at me, perfect for this photo!

The challenge is to use this album cover as inspiration for your layout as well as a song title or lyrics by Pink somwhere on the layout - either title or journalling

I have wanted to try my hand at this painting technique that is quite popular at the moment and I have a huge tube of hot pink - fantastic! I also decided to go with a black and white photo like the album cover.

I have used some of the lyrics from "So What" but I have added an S to make it She's gonna start a fight, instead of he ;)  She has quite the stance I reckon!!

That's Gotta Hurt!

Another page to share, this one for last weeks What's Cooking challenge over at Scrapz. The criteria was to use the words Oh No, string around a photo and a tag.

The incident that came to mind immediately was the recent accident we had here where Murray accidentally shut the car door on Zane's fingers. It was horrible! We were all in the car taking Zane to school, he had whole school mass so we were going to all go and watch. Everyone had gotten out of the car, but Zane was leaning against the car with his fingers stretched out.... He ended up in the sick bay at school with ice on his fingers. We couldn't calm him down so we took him home. He ended up going to hospital a few days later so that they could drill little holes into the nail and let all the blood out. He had 2 courses of antibiotics. His finger is still black but clearing up. This was a little over 3 weeks ago. Thankfully he looks like he won't lose the nail.  A few weeks after this, the same thing almost happened to Lily in the front door, but it was seen just in time. Time to teach the kids not to lean along doors with their hands outstretched!

This is my layout:

I had to use a car embellishment :) The tag pulls out with the story of the finger jamming. It reads:

Daddy shut the car door on your little fingers. You cried & cried. It happened on the way to school and we took you back hom and gave you Painstop. A few days later you had to get it drilled to get the gunk out. You were super brave at the hospital and didn't cry at all! You are on antibiotics to help it heal. My poor boy, Daddy felt very bad but it was an accident. We *heart* you!

A new challenge is starting over at Scrapz tomorrow. Check it out here

Purple Pumpkin

Just coming out of a 5 day flu fog, I can finally breathe today! Doing a blog catch up and today is the final day for entries for a Guest Designer spot at Purple Pumpkin. I LOVE these embellishments, so thought I would give it a go.

I love this layout of Miss Lily, she really is my girly girl. I have used a few Purple Pumpkin embellishments on this layout, the babushka button, the pink beads & the chenille flower (I removed a layer to make it smaller).

Once Upon a Sketch

I have been meaning to play along with this sketch challenge site for a while, the sketches are just gorgoeus! I finally got around to it, when I saw this fortnights sketch:

Just perfect for a photo that I have had kitted up with some papers for a little while, but unsure of how I wanted to scrap it, till this sketch caught my eye. The design was perfect for me to try out a technique I have seen around of rolling the paper to make the circle. (Please excuse that poor explanation, I have quite the head cold at the moment and the brain is a bit foggy).

Anyway here is my layout, using another older photo of Zane when he was only 11 months old. I am very grateful I documented facts about him regularly so I could just go to his baby book and see what he was doing at this age, funny how you forget so many little details - like the biting!

The journalling reads: Zane at 11 months, you are babbling all the time. You pull yourself up onto everything and can stand for a few seconds. You have grown your 5th tooth and are testing them out by biting. Ouch!

Just managed to get it done on time too, today is the last day before a new sketch is uploaded tomorrow!

Crop Day Layouts

Last Saturday I attended another fun day at All About Scrapbooks crop day, and once again I only managed 3 and a half pages. Though in my defence there was a sale on, so I had to shop a bit too!! Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to unpack properly yet, let alone finish the 4th layout!

First up is a photo I have had printed for well over a year but never had the right papers for it. Then the day before I got the gorgeous Echo Park Country Drive range here and it is divine!  More importantly the papers were absolutely perfect for my pic of Lily and her funny face that looks like she is winking, heehee...

My little butterfly is from the paper and I have made it into a little button with my new Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio button maker - I love it!!

The second layout, I stumbled upon these older pics of Zane & Lily a few weeks back when we had a challenge to use older photos. I remembered how much fun they were having with each other, it was very cute, eventhough Zane was almost squashing her, she thought it was hilarious and it was so nice to see them interacting with each other :)

And finally this photo I took just recently of Zane after a hard 5 minutes of soccer practice!! He will kick the ball for a few minutes and he is done... we try to tell him he needs to practice if he wants to get better, but he thinks he should be able to do things straight away without trying and if he can't then he doesn't like it anymore. Hope he grows out of that habit soon!

Hopefully more scrapping time over the weekend but in the meantime we are just enjoying the school holidays!
