Inspired Blueprints Sketch #104

Happy Friday Everyone...

Well that is those of you that have the weekend off, I will be working all of it! Another Friday and a new sketch up on the IB Blog, this one is number 104 and it features 3 photos and a fabulous journal spot to balance the design.

Here is my take on the sketch, and yep you guessed it, more holiday snaps!!

Some photos from inside the Coloseum this time. We took a 3 hour tour inside which included the underground level and the upper tier, fabulous views from up there!!

My background is a mix of texture paste, gesso, paint, mists and crackle glaze, just playing around till I was happy with the colours and texture.

Here is the sketch this is based on...

and as you can see I have stuck pretty close to the sketch for this one, replacing the banner for a floral spray which I have moved to alongside my photos and I popped my title up the top where there was a bit more space.

Hope you can play along with this one, you can find all the info here

OUAS - So lucky

Hi everyone

I've played along with the sketch challenge over at OUAS this month, when I saw the sketch it immediately made me think of some photos I already had printed out on my desk. I love that sketches can help make how to scrap some photos a lot clearer!

Here is my take on the sketch:

The prompt word, is LUCKY, and I have used it in both my title and my journaling, which reads:

The Trevi Fountain, the first "landmark" we visited in Rome on the start of our European adventure. It bought me to tears. We were here! I felt so very lucky and blessed to be able to enjoy all these places I'd only dreamed about!

It was the trip of a lifetime, I would be back in a flash if I could! Pity Australia is so far away from Europe!!

Getting there is half the fun!

Hello

Today's layout is about Mount Pilatus in Lucerne, Switzerland. To get to the mount is quite a journey, starting with a gorgeous boat road, then a trip on the worlds longest (ormaybe steepest?) cog railway. Heading back down involves gondolas and a bus!  A little bit of eveything! Well worth the trip and of course, getting there was half the fun! I took this photo while we were on the boat, looking at Mount Pilatus in the distance.

I've mainly used Basic Greys Carte Postal range for this page - love the papers & all the bits and pieces in this range that are just perfect for travel pages!

Thanks for visiting!

Inspired Blueprints Sketch #103 - Incognito

Hi everyone

For my interpretation of the sketch I have created a mixed media background with texture paste and dylusions inks, then used washi tape and stamping in place of the banner.  The other elements I have kept in the same location, just swapping the title.

The day it decided to rain...

Hello again

Back again with more holiday layouts, there is going to be a few for a while.

Today is a layout of the magnificent Neuschwanstein Castle in the Bavarian Alps of Germany. I was so looking forward to seeing this castle which Ludwig II had started to build - but never finished before he died in mysterious circumstances! It is also the castle that inspired Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle in Disneyland.

Unfortunately it was the first day of rain we had on our holiday and it absolutely bucketed down when we arrived at the castle, where we had to walk part way up, as the buses didn't have access all the way to the top. We headed to Marienbr├╝ck, the bridge from where you get the best view of the whole castle. The fog and rain made getting a shot almost impossible and they are all quite dark and eerie! Coming down from the bridge to tour the inside of the castle I had a clearish moment that enabled me to get this photo, the best of the many I attempted while trying to keep my camera and me dry!

Thank goodness they sell postcards at these places!

In the end, the photo works well with the subdued colours in the papers and the cute crown washi tape I had in my stash, so I am pretty happy with may layout. I guess I will just have to go back again one day and get the sunny day shot.

Thanks for stopping by and the lovely comments on my recent layouts.

When in Rome...

Hello again

Today I am starting at the beginning of our holiday, which began in Rome! We did an amazing tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum & Palantine Hill. It was a bit too much for the kids, to quote Lily:

"It's NOT interesting, it's just a bunch of bricks and rocks!"

She's only 6, so I guess it was - though she has always liked collecting rocks so she should of loved it lol!

Anyway, for this layout I have used a photo I took of the outside of the Colosseum, before we began the tour. It is just mind-blowing that this has remained standing for almost 2,000 years.

I'm loving all the travel papers around at the moment - I've stocked up!  This map paper is part of Basic Greys Carte Postale range - love this range! I've also used some 2Crafty nested clocks, you can find everything here at  All About Scrapbooks.

Starting Backwards - Holiday Layouts

Hello everyone

Back with the first of my holiday layouts. The last place we visited on our trip was Paris, and the very last day we spent at Disneyland.  It was a great day, even if we didn't get to much of the park, but spent most of the time in Fantasyland.

Maybe because it was freshest, but probably because I love the photos, I decided to scrap two Disneyland layouts.

This is the stunning castle where Sleeping Beauty lives. There is a fabulous animated dragon in the dungeon below that had the kids a bit scared, but upstairs beautiful stained glass pictures of scenes from Sleeping Beauty.

My second layout is a photo of the kids wearing their mickey and minnie ears (I got a pair too!) while waiting for the parade to start. Pretty sure we spent more time waiting than we did actually watching the parade - it seemed to be over pretty quickly!

Both of these layouts I have used Echo Park Beautiful Life papers. The blue & pinks are the perfect combination for these Disney photos!

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm Back

Hello

It's been very quiet around here! I have just come back from a fabulous 5 weeks in Europe with my two kids and my Mum. It was just magical, I haven't come back down to reality yet, I guess that will happen when I go back to work in a few more days!

So you can expect to see lots of travel pages coming up soon, but in the mean time, here is a page I did for Inspired Blueprints Sketch 101 that went live while I was away. Sketch 102 has just gone up in the last few days so be sure to check that out too!

Not exactly the right season, but I had these pics ready for a while, just waiting for some inspiration when the sketch came up!

I will be back in a day or so with the first of my travel layouts!
